LORD, let your mercy bo on us, as we place our trust
in YOU.
Today’s Readings
How often we find relief in
being removed from the problems of the world. We tend to isolate and insulate
ourselves from the needs of others. We tend to see ourselves – even when we
suffer – as quarantined from the concerns of others. In such circumstances,
blessing consists in being left alone. How difficult it can be to see that the
union of our pain and our call to service leads the way to real blessing.
Today’s readings understand
that serving others and enduring pain go hand in hand. They also see such
experiences as the source of blessing.
In our daily living we are asked to find our identity by interacting with others and by becoming partners with them, especially with their pain and frustration. By accepting baptism, we accept the cross of others. We are not isolated. Rather, we are necessarily involved, and because we are willing to accept pain and service the words spoken to Abram are also applicable to us: “In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
WELOME…Fr. Gerald Gonda to St. Mary’s this weekend. Father is a
Benedictine monk at St. Andrew Abby in Cleveland. I’m sure he is happy to be in such a nice
warm climate!!!!!!!

THANK YOU
Thank you brothers and sisters of St. Mary’s Parish for your constant
prayers, generosity, and support of my mission with NET Ministries. Gifts that
I have received from St. Mary’s Parishioners and the Portsmouth Council of the
K of C’s total $3,601.52, which exceeds my partnership goal of $3,000! I
pray that God may continue to bless OUR parish as we ALL go forth in faith to
love and serve the Lord. Christ’s
Peace,
Chad

Our Sympathy
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Paul Von Luhrte, who
died this past week. May our ever-loving God grant him eternal peace and
comfort his family at this time of loss.
30 ways to live a holier life…24th one. Pray for those involved in a passing funeral
procession, an accident, or whenever you hear a fire or a police siren. Cross
yourself and ask God to help all those who are ill or in pain – and those who
work to heal them.
RCIA TOPIC FOR THE
COMING WEEK: Open Questions Tuesday at 7 PM. Everyone is invited to attend our
sessions.
