Lord, let your mercy be on
us, as we place our trust in you.
Today’s Readings: How often we suffer from
“promises, promises.” We meet people who promise us everything but then deliver
absolutely nothing. Moreover, we too have been guilty at times of merely
talking a good game. We give assurance, but do we always back up our assurances
with deeds?
Today’s readings are a call
to Christian action. They are intended to awaken us from our lethargy and make
our baptismal commitment something more than just pious words. They are the
upsetting reminder that to accept Christ is to accept a Christian way of life. They
make the point that actions speak louder than words.
Maturing in a religious sense is no simple process. It is relatively easy to make our baptismal promises. It is much more difficult to act upon them. Do we really reject Satan and all his works and all his empty promises? If we do, then our family life and our business practices will show that. Do we really believe in the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting? If we do, then our reconciliation with those who have hurt us will show that. Our readings imply that Christianity is more than registration in our local parish. They clearly endorse the consequences of that registration, namely, that actions speak louder than words.
Thank You
On behalf of the Scioto
County Right to Life, I would like to express our gratitude of thanks for the
recent donation.
Thank you for caring for the
unborn and the fight to save them.
God Bless.
