Today’s Readings: Christianity is a
many-splendored presence, but we can get caught up in the dues-paying and
worship syndrome. We can equate Christianity with our weekly financial
contribution and our one-hour attendance at liturgy. While these are
commendable, we may be tempted to limit Christian presence to these two forms.
It may prove difficult to look at the larger spectrum and embrace some more
challenging ways of Christian presence.
Today’s readings reflect
different forms of presence. They powerfully suggest that the Christian life
can make considerable demands on the believer. They urge us to accept the
reality that Christianity is a many-splendored presence.
We can all point to others in
the Christian community who bring the Good News to unbelievers, who are the
victims of violence, who are the professional communicators of the Spirit. We
react to the disturbing message of Acts, First Peter, and John by urging that
we are ordinary, pew-abiding people who are not called upon to enter into the
fray.
In our daily lives, however, we do meet those who need to hear Good News about themselves and their basic human dignity. Hence, we are missionaries.
THANK YOU
Thanks much for all the prayers, hospital visits, cards and phone calls
during the time of my recent surgery. We are a great parish family. May God
bless us, each and every one.

GOD with joy.
30 ways to live a holier life…..30th one. Fear not. It’s
human to fear trouble, illness, pain, or even death. But God’s children know
that he will always provide what we need. “Do not be afraid any longer,
little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom” (Luke
12:32) “…seek first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things
will be given you besides” (Matthew 6:33).
