LORD, Send Out Your Spirit,
and Renew The Face Of The Earth
Today’s Readings: The Spirit’s gifts come in a
variety of forms: wisdom, knowledge, healing, prophesying, and so forth. The
Scripture readings for Pentecost urge that these and similar Spirit-filled
gifts must take an outward course, namely, from the Spirit-gifted person to the
gift-deprived individual. The Spirit is continually gifting the Christian
community. They, in turn, must use these gifts for the betterment of others in
the Christian community and throughout the world.
These readings also imply
that the experience of Pentecost is a daily occurrence. As long as there is a
person in some need, Pentecost must be celebrated anew. Perhaps our very
special task is to share the gift of reconciliation in our homes, in our
families, and our communities, as John insists. Perhaps the Spirit is calling
us to use our special gifts to instruct someone who is in doubt about the
faith. In any event, Luke and Paul join John in announcing the message of
Pentecost: the gifts of the Spirit are to be used for the good of others.
Do you ever hesitate to use
your spiritual gifts and talents out of fear of rejection?

Model T Ford A big thank you to the Ohio River Valley
Model T Ford Club for a donation to our food pantry of $500.00! This will help
us to purchase some “extras” to put in the bags.
How does our
garden grow? FANTASTIC!!! If you haven’t checked out the plantings
recently, do so. It’s been here for three years now and things are getting
established and flourishing.
Lightning As of this writing, Dave Ferrell has fixed
the bells – single-handedly! Way to go, Dave! We didn’t have to call anyone in
(or pay them). Give Dave a big hug for all he does for us. Waiting to hear from
the sound/video dudes to see when that will be up and working again. Bill
Malone replaced a dimmer switch in the rectory. Thanks to him we are back to
saving some electricity in the living room.
Meetings Finance was the shortest meeting we ever had!
15 minutes! A record. Parish Council was a bit longer. Congratulations to the
members of St. Mary’s for going over our goal in pledges to the Bishop’s Annual
Appeal, donating to the stained glass windows (St. George and Mr. Christopher
Columbus) and just doing your part to keep St. Mary’s moving forward. Some
future projects will be new steps for the church on the North and South sides,
getting the white caps repainted, and a new hall (God willing).
