LORD, Forgive The Wrong I Have Done.
Today’s Readings: To err is human, to forgive is
divine. Often it is genuinely difficult to forgive those who have offended us.
We continue to feel the pain they have caused. That pain may be so acute that
we refuse to forgive. We even declare our refusal: “Hell will freeze over
before I forgive you.” By contrast, today’s readings urge us to adopt the
divine approach to forgiveness. They expose a kingdom where God refuses to put
limits on forgiving. In God’s reign the norm is to let bygones be bygones.
Today’s Scripture passages
convey the demanding and upsetting message that we must change our attitude. We
are asked to undertake a divine outlook and be always ready to forgive, no
matter how great the sin or how terrible the hurt. We are bidden to reject a
program of limited forgiveness. We must learn that the powerful expression, “I
forgive you,” is but another way of saying, “I love you.” To be a Christian is
to forgive as the Lord forgives, to let bygones be bygones.
Do you ask forgiveness of
people you have hurt? Do you accept their forgiveness? Do you forgive yourself?
For the past 12 months on the first Thursday of the month, St. Mary’s
has had the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 12 noon to 3 PM. What a
great opportunity to spend this time with our Lord while celebrating the Year
of the Priest.
Thank you Father Ted for
making this possible.

THE WEEK AHEAD
PLEASE NOTE: There will be no Mass next week on
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This is the week that Fr. Ted is
taking the kids to Cedar Point and also a great opportunity to replacing the
tile just inside the ramp door.
THE SCIOTO CO. VOCATIONS COMMITTEE, led by Chaplain Fr. Joseph Yokum, would like to invite you to pray and work with them in their Mission – Committed to nurturing and fostering vocations to the priesthood and consecrated religious life in our deanery through prayer and inviting families to hear and respond to God’s call to “Come Follow Me.” Every Tuesday at 7 PM, Mass is offered at St. Peter’s for Vocations in our deanery. Every first Friday Fr. Yokum offers a Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration and Benedication at 8 PM for Vocations. On the odd months it is held at St. Monica and even months at St. Peter. Please join us as we “beg the harvest master to send out laborers to gather His harvest.” (Mt. 9:38)
FIRST COMMUNION BANNERS: If you
haven’t done so, will you please pick up your banner along with a CD, which was
made especially for you! They are in the little room to the right of the altar.
