Lord, on the day I called for help you answered me.

Today’s Readings:  At times our prayer life can seem like an arduous, impersonal task. Our God, for one reason or another, may seem unapproachable and uncaring, or cold and calculating. Today’s readings, however, place prayer in a familial setting. We are introduced to a Father who allows us to call him by name and who welcomes our prayer. Here is a God who invites us to enter a relationship where our needs are never trivial.

The readings demand that we conceive of God as a loving and vibrant friend, a nurturing parent. They challenge us to be family members in our prayer on two levels. The biblical writers insist that we bring our personal needs and our individual praise to a God who respects us as sons and daughters. They also imply that we bring the corporate needs and the communal praise of the other members of our family to a God who equally respects all as sons and daughters. The challenge of prayer is always to remain in contact with our God and in touch with our extended family.

Do you have a daily prayer time? Do you persist in it, even on those days when you do not feel the closeness of God? Even when it seems the things you pray for never come to be?

VISITING MISSIONARY THANK YOU! Fr. Sebastian Pandarathilkudiyil V.C., and all the Vincentian Missionaries thank you for your prayers and generous mission offering last weekend. From the Pastor

On Vacation   so the church is closed and locked. I had to say that this time. Fr. Ted unlocks the church in the mornings and locks it back up in the evenings. Since I will be away, there is no one assigned to this task. The alarm will be set so even if you have a key, don’t be tempted to use it! If you are one of the hospital visitors, please make arrangements to get communion from one of the other area Roman Catholic Churches or just go and pray with the persons. Hopefully no one will be in the hospital! I was going to use the “headline” –  “St. Mary’s is closed”, but that might have put more parishioners in the hospital. Fr. Ted will be back Saturday morning. Fr. Ted will be back Saturday, if the squirrels don’t get him for being the nut he is! Deezer will be his protector. Thank you to an anonymous donor for an extra day away! God bless you.
